About Casa Verde Designs
WHAT IS CASA VERDE DESIGNS?
The Casa Verde Designs green home improvement showroom at 424 F Street, Suite B in
Davis, California, seeks to encourage and facilitate green building, remodeling,
and redecorating efforts in the local area by providing both design services and
sustainable materials. Casa Verde Designs can provide assistance on both residential
and small commercial projects, working with contractors or directly with
property owners. The showroom is a site for retail sales of sustainable
and eco-friendly home improvement and decorating products such as flooring,
cabinetry, countertops, tile, paints and stains, window coverings, fabrics, furnishings
(both new and rehabilitated), art, and accessories. We want to meet the needs of
local building professionals and property owners who want to incorporate elements
of sustainable and universal design into their construction, remodeling,
and redecorating projects. At Casa Verde Designs, we try to help our clients
through their entire remodeling or renovation project: from assessing their needs,
to space planning, to selection of materials, fixtures, and finishes, to furnishing
and accessorizing a completed space. At the same time, we hope to inform
consumers about the environmental and social justice implications of their
design and decorating purchases.
Casa Verde Designs is owned by 25-year Davis resident Nancy Morrow.
Nancy arrived in Davis as student, and since then (apart from a brief stint in
East Lansing, Michigan), she has worked and lived in Davis with her husband
and daughter. After a long teaching career in the University Writing Program at
U.C. Davis, Nancy returned to school herself, earning a degree in
Interior Design from American River College in Sacramento. As she became
more interested in sustainable and universal design, she joined the
U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Build It Green (BIG) and
continued her education through memberships in the
American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the
National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), the
San Francisco Furniture Mart, and the San Francisco Design Center.
She has completed Build It Green's Certified Green Building Professional Course
and is working toward her Leadership in Energy and Environmenal Design (LEED)
accreditation. As a designer (and a homeowner who has built or remodeled
several homes herself), Nancy knows how difficult it is to select and obtain
the best advice and materials. Her design philosophy is to carefully assess
her clients' needs and concerns and help them choose the best design solutions
and materials to make their home or work space more functional, healthy,
comfortable, and beautiful.
